Welcome to Lon Kaiser’s Studio for Piano Playing and Musicality.
“Lon’s patience, inventiveness, and mastery were the perfect combination for our children’s first leap into piano lessons. He tailored each child’s course of study to their particular personalities and they responded with enthusiasm and impressive progress. I can imagine no better introduction to a lifelong love and practice of music.”
–Alison Hockenberry

Welcome to my Piano Studio Website.
if you are reading this then you are probably considering piano lessons for you or your son or daughter, if so then you’ve come to the right place for lessons. I should point out that I do not believe that everyone learns in the same fashion and that a certain technique of teaching is better than others. Rather I believe that each student has different interests and responds to different instruction and method. I’ve been teaching piano since 1990 and have the experience and adaptability to adjust to you or your child’s learning style. My goal for all students is that they shall become independent learners and that they shall be able to take their practice home and be able to reason through their work and practice. I teach thinking, listening, reading, technique and musicality and guarantee a positive musical experience regardless of whether you as a student are planning a career in music or a personal relationship with music for simple enjoyment.

Studio versus Home Lessons
I accept students here in Brooklyn’s Stuyvesant Heights or I can travel to you (Manhattan, Park Slope and Fort Greene are my common destinations). The current trend is for lessons at home (understandable) however, consider a lesson in studio. Kids generally concentrate better outside their comfort zone. The home is filled with distractions while here the focus will be quiet with the focus on music and there will be no siblings running around. Would you consider 8th grade Math Class in your livingroom? Just something to consider.
Recitals
I host a year-end salon style recital, normally in June. Location is TBD for 2013. By trying to match the size of my studio with a venue, the goal is to create an intimate experience. In the past it has been in-residence here in our home, however with a growing studio we may not be able to fit in 2013. Unless I move to a loft-like apartment
I will find another equally comfortable place to host. If I see considerable mid-year progress I do consider a post-holiday recital.
